South SimTech Day

The South SimTech Day aims to offer Simulation technicians various
opportunities to develop and venture within their role.

Participating in this event provides numerous chances to
gain knowledge from specialist keynote speakers; exchange and
acquire knowledge from fellow attendees; stay updated with
information from leading suppliers and connect and discover the world of
simulation apprenticeships.

There's also the opportunity to present and share
simulation experience and work during the ‘Show and Tell’ period.

The day will begin at 8.30am and end at 4.30pm at Oxford Brookes University

Technician Commitment relaunch event 2025

You are invited to join the Royal Society of Chemistry as we celebrate five years of support for the Technician Commitment.

The relaunch event will be your opportunity to:

  • hear from our esteemed speakers Dr Helen Pain MBE CChem CSci FRSC and Dr Kelly Vere MBE
  • celebrate 2025’s Technical Excellence Prize winners
  • be the first to explore the RSC’s brand new Technician Commitment action plan
  • and find out more about developments in equity, diversity and inclusion for technical staff

It’s free to attend and open to anyone working in a technical role across all sectors of the sciences – including apprentices, technicians and technician managers. Plus, you don’t need to be a member of the RSC to take part.

Places are limited, so please be sure to guarantee your place by registering soon. If there are other colleagues from your institution attending, we suggest nominating one or two technicians, so as many institutions can be represented as possible.

Registrations close 15 August.

There are also travel bursaries available up to £200 for any UK delegates, and applications are now open. The bursaries are limited and will be awarded on a first come, first served basis.

Technicians in Materials Innovation Conference

This event will bring together Research Technical Professionals (RTPs) from the materials innovation community for a one-day programme of workshops, career talks and networking opportunities.

Commencing with an optional introductory networking event from 16:30 on Thursday 4th September, followed by an evening meal at the Manchester Museum, the main Friday programme will include sessions on a wide array of RTP focussed topics; career talks and panel sessions with RTPs from a diverse range of career paths; and a showcase of the opportunities NTPMI can offer.

About the Organisers
The National Technical Platform for Materials Innovation (NTPMI) empowers Research Technical Professionals (RTPs), providing access to training and events, and the opportunity to share expertise and develop best practice, across materials innovation and associated manufacturing technology communities.

NTPMI is led by the Henry Royce Institute and funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).

CASES Technical Special Interest Group Launch

The launch event is open to all who seek to empower and support technical colleagues in sport, health and exercise science. Whether you're a CASES member or not, all are welcome. This includes, but is not limited to, technicians, academics, and managers.

The theme of the event is to launch our Technical Special Interest Group and celebrate CASES becoming a supporter of the Technician Commitment. This event will aim to bring technicians together from across the UK and Ireland, connect with likeminded technical professionals, meet suppliers and view some of their latest technology and explore career pathways and opportunities. The event will include a selection of workshops including ‘Battle of the Techs’.
