Science Futures has formally pledged to strengthen support for technicians and technical professionals who are critical to the growth of the science sector across Tayside and North East Fife.
Now a formal supporter of the internationally recognised Technician Commitment, Science Futures joins a growing global community of organisations committed to improving the visibility, recognition, career development and long-term sustainability of technical professionals in higher education, research and innovation.
Science Futures is a regional skills initiative led by Dundee and Angus College and funded by the Scottish Government, focused on strengthening the science workforce across Tayside and North East Fife.
Working in partnership with employers, education providers and industry stakeholders, the programme helps address workforce challenges by increasing awareness of technical careers, developing pathways into the sector and supporting skills development for those already employed in technical roles.
As the science sector continues to evolve, technicians need to develop new skills and adapt to emerging technologies.
Science Futures is working with employers and education partners to help ensure the regional workforce is equipped to meet future demand.

Since launching in 2017, the Technician Commitment has grown to a global community of more than 150 organisations championing technicians and their contributions to higher education, research and innovation. The initiative is hosted by the UK Institute of Technical Skills & Strategy.
